Refinishing a Coffee Table
I am learning how to refinish a table from a garage sale to resell. I picked this project because I want to expand my crafting and artistic knowledge. My goal is to one day be able to buy and resell various pieces of refinished furniture and decor. I would love to one day open an Etsy shop. This serves two purposes: (1) I can create beautiful pieces of art and learn new techniques, and (2) I can make some money. Crafting has been a hobby of mine for years. However, it can get expensive when buying supplies. This way I can make money to continue doing my craft and to finance it. Not only this, but I can also use my profits in my classroom for any supplies I need or for my students’ projects.
When I start any new artistic project, I first start looking on Pinterest. From there, I found various blogs across numerous topics. Below is a list of my initial findings. The blogs will teach me how to removing varnish and veneer, how to stain wood, what chalk paint is (there are a lot of blogs where they talk about how they use it over latex paint), how to use a stencil, how to create a faux marble top, and how to paint with no brush strokes. I plan to use these blog posts to help inspire me as I work through my design idea and create the finished product.
