My name is Cheyenne Peters. I am a secondary mathematics educator with a concentration in urban education. Here you will learn a little bit about me and my teaching philosophy. You can also examine lessons I have taught, along with sample student work. Lastly, I have also started a blog where I have documented my journey as an educator.
I've observed various classrooms through my experience at Michigan State University, studied abroad in South Africa and participated in mathematical research on creating equations for a cancerous system. These experiences influence how I view math education and my teaching philosophy.
Teaching is my passion. I love seeing a student have that "ah ha!" moment when they learn something new. My goal is to provide my students with not only mathematical content knowledge but also social skills that they can use outside of my classroom. I want to be a positive role model and influence for them. If they don't learn anything else, I want them to know that I care about them and no matter what their dream is, it can become reality.
